Helping Intercel Guinea accelerate their growth
The Intercel Group designs, installs and operates local and national cellular networks in sub-Saharan Africa, Guinea and Madagascar. Gateway has worked with them since 2004 and supplies all of their international connectivity and critical backhaul services.
With five mobile phones for every landline, Guinea’s burgeoning telecommunications industry is becoming increasingly vibrant. As a result, Intercel had been expanding faster than their IP load could handle.
To meet this increase in demand, Intercel looked to Gateway to provide inbound and outbound voice and cellular backhaul services. This included the deployment of Gateway’s pioneering RTP multiplex solution eliminating the negative effect of IP overload. Within one month of the deployment, their voice capacity doubled. This success led to RTP multiplex being rolled out to several other large network operators throughout Africa.
‘We required a solution that would efficiently address our international voice requirements as well as deliver a swift return on investment. A key part of this was engaging a provider with the depth of technical expertise that could provide the support we’ve come to know and trust throughout our long-term relationship with Gateway.
