The Gateway Communications Charitable Fund
Gateway has established a fund to support our teams’ passion for Africa. Whether it’s running a marathon for charity or working in a soup kitchen, Gateway supports these efforts by matching the funds raised.
We strongly encourage our employees to get involved with their local charities. With such diverse teams in offices across Africa and Europe, we have a unique opportunity to contribute personally to many diverse causes across the globe.
We will continue to update you on our achievements in this area as we continue to make a difference, not just across African telecommunications but African communities too.
Sep 2011: Gateway Communications supports a charitable raffle at Capacity Africa 2011 in aid of AMREF by matching and donating the value of ticket sales.
AMREF was founded in 1957 in Nairobi as the Flying Doctors Service of East Africa and provides health care to those who need it most in Africa’s most marginalised communities in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania and South Africa. AMREF’s vision is lasting health change in Africa. AMREF believes that the power for this change lies within Africa’s communities, ensuring that they have the knowledge, skills and means to maintain their good health and break the cycle of poor health and poverty. For more information please visit www.amref.org.
The work that AMREF does at the very heart of building the future of Africa and is something Gateway Communications is delighted to be able to support.
May 2011: As the first initiative under the Gateway Charitable Fund, three employees from the UK office took part in a ‘Race for Life’ in aid of Cancer Research. Well done to Bhabhindar Cooley, Claire Sutch and Jean Collins for taking part in the 5k race in Regents Park, London. Through the generosity of friends and family the Gateway team have so far raised £1,195 (which is still rising by the day) and with thanks to the Gateway Charitable Fund matching their donation, Cancer Research is set to receive a donation of at least £2,390.
